Thermodynamics is an important basic science for many areas in mechanical engineering. It describes the transport and conversion of different types of energy and the related properties of matter.

We teach these basic sciences to our students against the background of technical applications in the areas of energy technologies, environmental technologies, process engineering, air conditioning and refrigeration technology, aviation and space technology, combustion, and production engineering. Moreover graduate and post graduate courses are offered to deepen the knowledge in selected fields of heat and mass transfer.

In research we focus on fundamental as well as application oriented projects in the field of heat and mass transfer. The scientific analyses are equally based on modeling and simulation methods and on experimental methods.
